Ingredients

Instructions

  • Get all of your ingredients ready. If you are baking your loaf of brioche bread, it is best to use slices that are a few days old and not fresh. Preheat the oven to 390 Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius if you bake the casserole straight.
  • Mix eggs, heavy cream, brown sweetener, cinnamon, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl or a jar. Whisk thoroughly and set aside.
  • Whisk together the egg mixture fully and set aside.
  • Cut your brioche into thick slices and each slice of brioche into squares. Place the cubed brioche into a baking dish and pour mixture over the bread. Place cubed butter pieces and, optionally, a bit of brown sweetener and cinnamon on top of the casserole. If you cook it straight, allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes for the custard to soak into the french bread. Place into the preheated oven and bake this easy brioche french toast casserole for 30 to 40 minutes.

Notes

  • Brioche - it is best to use stale brioche or challah bread.
  • Dairy-free - swap heavy cream with almond milk, coconut milk, or coconut cream. Butter can be exchanged for dairy-free butter.
  • Gluten-Free - Using the brioche in the recipe makes this dish entirely gluten-free. If you choose a store-bought option, ensure you get a gluten-free loaf or brioche.
  • Extra spices - You can add a pinch of nutmeg or dry ginger for additional flavors.
