Ingredients

  • Water
  • 2 Cups Almonds

Instructions

  • Prepare your almonds and get your bowl with fresh water ready.
  • Wash the almonds before everything else because the skin retains quite a lots of dirt. Allow the almonds to soak for approximately 8-12 hours. For best results, almonds can be soaked overnight by placing them somewhere in your kitchen at room temperature.
  • After soaking, drain the water from the almonds and rinse them under cold running water to remove any residue from the almonds' skin. Place the trays in the dehydrator and set the timer for approximately 12-24 hours.
  • Once the almonds are evenly dehydrated, you can remove them from the dehydrator and let them cool down to room temperature. I do this to see what texture and crunchiness I achieved after dehydrating them.

Notes

  • Add Salt (Optional) - Some people like me to add a pinch of salt to the soaking water to make the almond skin better.
  • Peel the Skin (Optional) - If you prefer, you can peel the skin off the soaked almonds. Some people like eating nuts like almonds without the skin because it's easier to chew it has a milder flavour and it will have a different kick on our taste buds.
  • Use in Recipes - You can use soaked almonds in various recipes like smoothies, salads, and desserts, or just eat them as a snack.
  • Discard Water - Do not consume the water used for soaking, as it may be contaminated.
