Ingredients

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°Fahrenheit (190°Celsius) and prepare a baking dish, gathering and measuring all ingredients ahead of time, with foil ready for wrapping.
  • Peel the onions, cut a 1-inch opening at the top, scoop out the centers to form deep wells, and place ½ tablespoon of butter inside each hollow.
  • Melt the remaining butter and mix in chili onion crunch, garlic, paprika, Old Bay, Cajun seasoning, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper, then pour it over and into the onions.
  • Wrap each onion tightly in foil, bake for 50–60 minutes until tender, then unwrap and broil for 2–3 minutes to caramelize the tops before serving.

Notes

  • Choose the right onions: Pick large, firm onions that are easy to hollow out. Sweet onions work best because they roast nicely and taste mild.
  • Prep carefully: Cut the top off and scoop out the inside without breaking the onion. Keep the removed onion flesh to mix into your stuffing for extra flavor.
  • Even cooking: Place onions in a baking dish with a little water at the bottom. This helps them cook evenly and prevents them from drying out.
  • Add finishing touches: Sprinkle a little olive oil or cheese on top before baking. It gives a golden color and improves the taste.
