Trail Mix In Snack Bags

We all know that trail mix is famous as a go-to snack for hiking and traveling. Well, having trail mix in snack bags is good because you can bring it everywhere without the quality fading. Try it for your kids’ lunchbox, and they will be surprised how it stays crunchy and good even after having it in a snack bag the whole day.

How To Make Homemade Trail Mix Recipe

Get your ingredients ready, and let’s make this healthy trail mix. Do not worry; once you have all the ingredients, the process will be easy peasy. Just follow these simple steps, and feel free to check the exact measurements on the recipe card below to help.

Kitchen Gadgets:

  • Large Mixing Bowl: Use to combine all the ingredients. This prevents any mess.
  • Spoon: A large wooden spoon or a regular spoon to mix all the ingredients.
  • Mini storage containers: Prepare each ingredient in a mini storage container with the correct measurement for easy tossing.

Trail Mix Ingredients:

  • Chocolate-Covered Almonds: These are almonds covered with sugar-free dark chocolate. They are a good substitute if you do not have pure dark chocolate chips.
  • Chocolate-Covered Peanuts: Like chocolate-covered almonds, these chocolate peanuts can act as peanut butter chips for this trail mix recipe.
  • Dry Cranberries: These sweet and tart dry cranberries provide a fruity flavor and chewy texture.
  • Coconut Flakes: Coconut flakes provide a natural sweet taste to the trail mix. Their nutty flavor complements the other ingredients.
  • Peanuts: Classic fresh peanuts are one of the best staples for trail mix.
  • Dehydrated Strawberries: Dried strawberries add a splash of color and a sweet taste. You can make a homemade one or buy one in the stores. Look for sugar-free ones.
  • Walnuts: Instead of plain peanuts, use walnuts. They are a healthy nut option for the mix. You can also substitute cashews.
  • Almonds: You can use either regular almonds or soaked almonds. They add an excellent crunch to this recipe.
  • Sunflower Seeds: These seeds can enhance the overall flavor of the trail mix. You can find them in organic stores or markets.

FULL INSTRUCTIONS WITH STEPS FOR MAKING YOUR OWN TRAIL MIX RECIPE

First Step: Prepare All of The Ingredients

The first step is to prepare and gather all the ingredients in one place. Measure each ingredient according to your preferred method and place them in a small container.

All the ingredients I use and list here are carefully picked. I make sure that they are clean and low-carb. You can include them all in your recipe, but if you do not like any ingredients here, substitute them with the ones you prefer.

I recommend using equal proportions on each ingredient so there will be balance once combined.

TRICKS AND TIPS BEFORE MAKING TRAIL MIX:

  • Ingredients: For best results, choose high-quality ingredients for this recipe. Use keto-friendly ingredients for a healthier snack. Feel free to use or add raisins and banana chips if you want it sweeter.
  • Nuts: Use any nuts like cashews, macadamia nuts, and pistachios since they all have healthy fats that are still healthy. You can also roast them if you want.
  • Dried fruits: If you have time to make dehydrated recipes home, make dried cranberries and strawberries. It is always better if you do it.
  • Measurements: Balance all the ingredients for a sweet and salty snack that will be your favorite.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Substitute for this Snack Mix

The perfect substitute for this snack mix is a simple homemade granola since they almost have a similar taste and flavor, aside from granola that uses oats. Yes, trail mix is good for you if your ingredients are healthy. A blend of nuts, seeds, and dried fruits balances your daily food intake.

Are Store-Bought Trail Mix Healthy?

Store-bought trail mix can be healthy, depending on the ingredients used. I have tried buying one, and lots have added sugar, bad fats, and other ingredients that might not be good for you. However, the store also has better trail mixes with good stuff like nuts, seeds, and dried fruits without extra sugar or carbs. Just check the label every single time.

Can I Use Roasted Nuts Instead Of Raw Nuts?

You can use roasted nuts instead of raw nuts to make a healthy trail mix. Roasted nuts add a rich flavor and crunchy texture to the mix.
