FULL INSTRUCTIONS WITH STEPS FOR HOMEMADE FRUIT ROLL UPS

First Step: Prepare Ingredients

The first thing to do is wash the cranberries properly and rinse. Set them aside at room temperature.

Prepare your fresh cranberries and water for blending. You can prepare any sweetener or lemon juice if you wish to have a sweeter taste.

Second Step: Blend The Cranberries

Place the cranberries into the food processor or blender and add water. Try achieving a cranberry puree by blending your cranberries.

When your blended cranberries are ready, transfer the mixture onto a glass cup and strain using a fine mesh sieve. Squeeze them all out until you separate the juice from the pulp.

Third Step: Spread And Dehydrate

Making fruit roll-ups in the dehydrator may require a silicone baking mat or plastic insert on the dehydrator trays as you will spread the puree in it. If you do not have any, you can use parchment paper, but make sure to cut them into the size of the trays to fit in.

After letting the pulp separate from the juice, spread the fruit mixture onto a baking sheet using an offset spatula. Apply an even layer for the best results when you roll the fruit later.

Dehydrate and let it dry for 6-8 hours or until the fruit puree is no longer sticky to the touch.

Fourth Step: Roll Up And Serve

Once dried, carefully peel the fruit leather from the parchment paper and roll it into a log or clean chopping board. Cut the roll into bite-sized pieces, and you now have your cranberry fruit roll-ups.

Another way of serving your fruit rollup is by settling it in between 2 wax papers, and then you cut the strips and roll the fruit leather. This is ideal when you make a huge batch of cranberry roll-ups. You can use a scissor or a pizza cutter for slicing.

TRICKS AND TIPS BEFORE YOU MAKE HOMEMADE FRUIT ROLL-UPS:

  • Be creative – Mix different fruits for unique flavor combinations. You can do strawberry, kiwi, mango, and pineapple; let your creativity run wild and discover your favorite blend.

How Do I Make Fruit Leather Using The Oven?

Although using an oven is another good way of making cranberry fruit leather, achieving a perfect fruit roll-up could be compromised and depend on how you set your oven up.

It is almost the same as when you use the dehydrator, but using the oven requires preheating and setting the temperature at the lowest your oven can go. Follow the same steps and spread the mixture onto a baking sheet with parchment paper.

What Are The Usual Ingredients Used In Making Fruit Roll-Ups?

The usual ingredients needed to make fruit roll ups are your fruit of choice and an optional sweetener like sugar substitute, maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar. Fruit roll-ups are made with real fruit, and the other ingredients can be easily changed to suit your taste preferences.

Sure, you can do any fruit you like, but I noticed that most people like making fruit roll-ups using strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

Substitute for Cranberry Fruit Roll-Ups

If you are looking for fruit leather with a different hint of flavor, make your fruit roll using mixed berries. You can be as creative as you want and experiment with other berries or add a tropical twist with mango and pineapple.

You can add ingredients like chia seeds, maple syrup, or honey with mixed fruit roll-ups. You can even use frozen fruits to make them, but make sure to thaw before blending for best results.
